Trimble S8 Robotic Total Station
The Trimble S8 is a high end robotic total station built for demanding surveying and precision engineering work. Introduced in 2007 it has long been Trimble most advanced AutoLock and robotic optical instrument. It combines fast silent servo drive with reliable target tracking and long range reflectorless measurement so one person can run a job from the rover pole.
Key Features
- Robotic operation: control the instrument remotely from the pole and measure solo saving time and labor
- AutoLock target tracking: locks on to the prism and follows it automatically between points
- Long Range FineLock: extra precise target lock for monitoring and tunneling work available on FineLock equipped models
- MagDrive servo technology: smooth, silent, and accurate movement
- DR HP / DR Plus reflectorless EDM: extended range direct reflex measurement reducing the number of instrument setups
- High-precision angle measurement: models are offered up to 0.5″ accuracy and the extreme precision version pairs this with a DR distance accuracy of 0.8 mm + 1 ppm making it suitable for industrial applications
- Video-assisted options: Trimble Vision technology gives a live video feed from the instrument to your controller so you can see and measure remotely and capture images for documentation
- Flexible software support: works with Trimble Access and Trimble Survey Controller field software and Trimble Business Center for office processing
- Engineering integration: pairs with Trimble 4D Control software and specialized Trimble Access applications for monitoring
Typical Applications
- Topographic, boundary, and control surveys
- Construction layout and stakeout
- Structural, deformation, and tunnel monitoring
- Industrial and precision engineering measurement
- Remote or hard to reach measurement with reflectorless EDM
Why Choose It
The Trimble S8 delivers high accuracy, reliable tracking, and long range reflectorless measurement in one instrument. Robotic operation lets a single operator cover more ground and the FineLock and high precision options make it a strong choice for monitoring and engineering projects where small movements matter.
