Aeroflex IFR IFF-701 IFF Transponder Test Set
The IFF-701 is not a transponder itself It is an organizational level first line test set for checking IFF transponders installed in airborne, naval, and land based platforms. It is used to verify that a platform transponder is working correctly either over the air through a test antenna or by direct connection so crews and technicians can confirm readiness without a bench setup.
Key Features
- Wide transponder coverage: tests MK10A, MK12, and MK12/Mode S IFF transponders
- Automatic testing: AUTO TEST selects predetermined test sequences to minimize test time
- Over the air or direct connection: test through a test antenna at a short distance from the transponder antenna or connect directly to the transponder
- Parametric measurements: transponder transmit frequency, power, reply delay, and receiver sensitivity (MTL)
- Comprehensive test menu: includes ATCRBS reply and decoder tests Mode 1/2 and Mode 4 reply tests, MTL difference, squitter, and SLS level tests
- Mode S testing: UF0, UF4, UF5, UF11, UF16, DF20, DF21, and flight ID tests
- Menu driven setup: three setup menus for test parameters and non volatile memory keeps the last settings
- Two operating lines: can power up in either 1st line or 2nd line mode
- Built-in self test: confirms the test set itself is working
- Rugged: designed for field and flight line environments
Typical Applications
- Flight line checks of aircraft IFF transponders
- Shipboard and ground vehicle IFF transponder verification
- Preventive maintenance and fault isolation
- Pre mission readiness testing
- Depot and intermediate level (2nd line) avionics testing
Why Choose It
The Aeroflex IFR IFF-701 gives maintenance teams a fast repeatable way to check IFF transponders where the platform sits with automatic test sequences that reduce test time and the chance of operator error. Mode S support helps keep it useful as transponder technology moves on from older modes.
