Keysight Agilent N9344C 20 GHz Handheld Spectrum Analyzer
The Agilent N9344C is a rugged handheld spectrum analyzer (HSA) covering 1 MHz to 20 GHz tunable down to 9 kHz. It was introduced by Agilent and is now a Keysight product. It is designed for field work on microwave links radar, satellite, and wireless systems, and for interference hunting and on site repair. Keysight positions it as benchtop class RF performance in a fanless, battery powered unit that can be read in day and night conditions.
Key Features Agilent N9344C
- Wide frequency range: 1 MHz to 20 GHz, AC coupled, tunable to 9 kHz
- Span range: zero span plus 100 Hz to 20 GHz
- Very low noise: typical displayed average noise level (DANL) of about -144 dBm (Keysight fact sheet also quotes -155 dBm/Hz normalized) improved with the preamp option
- Fast sweeps: less than 0.95 seconds for a full 20 GHz span
- Good linearity: typical third order intercept (TOI) of +15 dBm at 18 GHz
- Amplitude accuracy: specified at ±1.3 dB according to a distributor listing
- Input protection: up to +30 dBm for a maximum of 3 minutes with the input attenuator at 20 dB or more
- Built-in GPS receiver and antenna: tag measurements with position
- Rugged, fanless design: built for tough field environments
- Spectrum monitor (Option SIM): with a spectrogram display and record and playback
- Interference analysis: dedicated applications for spectrum monitoring and interference analysis
- Optional measurement tools: time gated spectrum analysis (Option TMG) a channel scanner (Option SCN) and an internal preamplifier (Option P20) that covers 20 GHz
- Tracking generator option (TG7): 5 MHz to 7 GHz
- Power measurement: high accuracy readings with Keysight U2000 series USB power sensors
- Modulation analysis: AM/FM (and ASK/FSK) analysis plus a channel power and adjacent channel power measurement with an RRC filter for LTE and W-CDMA and channel standards for LTE, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX
- Task planner: reduces test setup time and helps automate routine tasks and reports
- Remote control: USB and LAN with SCPI through socket and telnet
- Security features: keypad lock with password and a user data erase function
Typical Applications
- Microwave link, radar, and satellite installation and maintenance
- Interference hunting and spectrum monitoring
- Cell site and wireless system testing
- Field repair and troubleshooting
- Defense and aerospace field measurements
- Spectrum emission mask and channel power checks
Why Choose It
The Agilent N9344C gives field technicians sensitivity, speed, and a frequency range up to 20 GHz in a handheld which would otherwise take a benchtop analyzer. Rugged construction, GPS, and task automation make it a practical tool for long days on site.
