Anritsu S820D Broadband Site Master Cable and Antenna Analyzer
The Anritsu S820D is a handheld battery operated cable and antenna analyzer built for installing, verifying, troubleshooting, and repairing microwave transmission lines and antenna systems in the field. Covering 25 MHz to 20 GHz as standard and 2 MHz to 20 GHz with the low frequency extension option it handles both coaxial and waveguide connections. It replaces bulky laboratory sized scalar analyzers and microwave network analyzers with a rugged portable tool that technicians can carry up a tower.
Key Features Anritsu S820D
- Wide frequency coverage: 25 MHz to 20 GHz extendable down to 2 MHz with the optional extension
- Frequency Domain Reflectometry (FDR): uses RF and microwave energy rather than DC pulses so faults are detected earlier before they grow into serious failures
- Vector error correction: 1 port calibration removes common field measurement errors giving more accurate and repeatable results than scalar methods
- Core measurements: return loss, VSWR, cable loss, and distance to fault (DTF) with the ability to pinpoint cable and antenna problems from ground level
- Fast fault finding: locates damaged mis positioned or moisture contaminated cables quickly
- True 2-port cable loss (option): an external CW source module for long microwave cables operating up to 20 GHz
- Trace smoothing: improves cable loss measurement accuracy
- User-defined calibration kits: supports two coaxial and two waveguide calibration kits
- Optional power monitor: measure transmitter and long cable power with faster measurements than the previous model
- Optional GPS receiver: stamp each trace with location information
- Connector options: standard K(f) test port with an optional N(f) connector
- Field-ready: up to about 1.5 hours of continuous operation from a field replaceable battery and runs from a 12.5 VDC source
- Included in the kit: PC based data analysis software, soft carrying case, rechargeable battery, AC/DC power supply, ruggedized adapter, 12 V vehicle adapter, and user guide
Typical Applications
- Microwave site installation and commissioning
- Point to point and point to multipoint link maintenance
- Cable and antenna sweep testing during and after installation
- Wireless backhaul and defense communications systems
- Fault location in waveguide and coaxial feed lines
