Vanguard CT-7000 Digital Circuit Breaker Analyzer
The Vanguard CT-7000 is a portable circuit breaker analyzer for testing the timing and mechanical performance of high voltage and extra high voltage breakers. It gives maintenance crews and test engineers the data to confirm a breaker will operate as designed when a fault occurs.
Key Features
- Contact and motion analysis: measures main and resistor contact time, stroke, velocity, over travel, bounce back, and contact wipes
- All breaker operations: analysis on OPEN, CLOSE, OPEN-CLOSE, CLOSE-OPEN, and OPEN-CLOSE-OPEN operations
- Flexible timing windows: selectable 1, 10, or 20 second windows, to suit fast trip operations or longer sequences
- Multiple contact channels: the current CT-7000 S3 is available with 3 or 6 contact timing channels, and earlier versions were offered with up to 12
- Digital travel transducer inputs: three channels covering linear travel of 0.0 to 60.0 in and rotary travel of 0 to 360 degrees
- Built-in breaker initiation: can operate the breaker directly, with a 30 A, 250 Vac/dc maximum initiate capacity
- PC software included: Windows based breaker analysis software comes with the purchase for reviewing, storing, and reporting test results
- Optional extras: transportation cases, on-line timing mode, dual ground testing mode, and a Bluetooth interface
Typical Applications
- Commissioning tests on new circuit breakers
- Routine preventive maintenance and diagnostics in substations
- Troubleshooting slow, sticking, or misaligned breaker mechanisms
- Verifying insertion resistor operation on EHV breakers
- Trending breaker performance over time for condition based maintenance
Why Choose It
A breaker that fails to interrupt current quickly can cause severe often catastrophic damage to the electrical system. The Vanguard CT-7000 combines timing, travel, and velocity measurement in one portable field ready instrument so you can catch mechanical problems before they become failures
